Spicy Prawns

I haven't been cooking with prawns lately, given the fact that the prices at the market is really freaking me out, even though it doesn't make a drastic  change in my spending.
But just the thought of it makes me think twice.

Here's one simple spicy prawn dish that my family enjoy.

3 tbs of cooking oil

A
3 large onion- sliced
1 lemon grass - slice fine
5 pips garlic  and 2 in ginger- bruised and chopped fine

2 in shrimp paste (belacan)
2 tbs chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp of brown sugar

500 g of shelled and cleaned prawns

salt to taste
1/2 cup coconut cream
2 green chili - sliced

Fire the wok to medium heat and pour the oil.

Saute A until the onions are soft and brown, cook about 5 minutes.
Add B and mix continuously to avoid the paste from sticking to the base of the wok.  Add quarter cup of water. Slow the heat  and stir for about 10 minutes.

Now add the prawns and continue stirring.
Add salt to taste  and the rest of the ingredients and you're done.

Serve warm with steamed rice.

Happy cooking...Jue
