Rava Thosai


If you are a die hard fan of  home-made Thosai, you would acknowledge how time consuming it is to make one. 
Meet Rava Thosai. A quick and simple alternative to enjoy Thosai.

160g Semolina (rava)
120g plain flour
160g rice flour
3 cups water
2 tbs yogurt
1 tsp cumin                  )
1/2 tsp black pepper ) pound coarsely
 2 tsp salt
1 onion - sliced fine
1 green chili - sliced

In a large bowl, combine all the above ingredients and give it a good mix.
Set aside for about 4 hours .( I kept mine overnight.)
The next day, give the batter a good mix.


Heat and oil the  griddle, gently pour a couple of ladle-full of the batter and swirl it to make a pancake.
After about a minute, flip the pancake over to cook the flipped side.
Remove the Rava Thosai onto a plate and repeat for the rest.
Serve with curry or chutney
