Green peas dessert
I love this dessert, it's simple with no fuss or frills. It's my comfort food. Mom use to make this every other time and you just don't get fed up of it.
Best served chilled and this is the part I hate, waiting for it to get chilled.
A fairly quick dessert, (only if you have a pressure cooker, else it will take ages if you use the stove top).
1 cup green peas
1/2 c brown sugar (according to your preference)
1 to 2c water
1/2c coconut cream
2 screw pine leaves
pinch of salt
Rinse the peas and put it in a pressure cooker. Add water just above the peas and cover. Cook on a medium heat min to low heat ( to avoid the loud whistle) for 15 min.
If
you don't have a pressure cooker, you need to soak the peas for a couple
of hours then boil them in a deep pot till
the peas split. That would perhaps take 30 min or so.
With
the pressure cooker method, open top lid carefully and add 1 to 2 cups
of water and the leaves. Then the sugar and salt goes in. When it begins
to boil add coconut cream and off the fire.
At this point you can dilute it with water or coconut cream if it's too thick for your preference.

Discard leaves and serve hot if you wish, else refrigerate to enjoy it chilled.
